inchingolo g.m.r. - cv

Dr. Giuseppe Inchingolo was born in the city of Genoa, Italy, to Antonio and Maria Barbiani. He married Tamara Maria Mendelevich on December 11, 1980.

He received a diploma in Chemistry in 1971 from the Professional Institute "P. Gaslini" in Genoa; he earned a diploma in Bio-Clinical-Chemistry from the Civil Hospital in Genoa three years later, a diploma in Industrial Chemistry from the Technical Institute of Chemical Industry in Genoa in 1975 and a degree in Biology in 1981 at the University of Genoa.

During the years 1975-81 Dr. Inchingolo combined study with scientific research. His scientific work concerned human biology, the biology of aging, behavioral ecology and observational epidemiology. He approached general system theory (e.g. nonlinear system theory as chaos theory) to evaluate multifactorial dynamical links among the ecosystem, culture, behavior and psychophysiology.

Since 1975, Dr. Inchingolo has worked at INRCA (Italian National Research Centres on Aging) in Genoa. His activities have involved several biological and epidemiological studies concerning psychophysiological and physiopathological statuses during aging. He was also the organizer of the local laboratory of INRCA.

Between 1984 and 1991 he performed modeling using statistical data analysis and time- series analysis of psychobiological and epidemiological parameters at the Computing Centre of the University of Genoa.

He joined the Institute of Anthropology in the Faculty of Literature and Phylosophy at the University of Genoa in 1975, remaining there until 1986. He studied links among morphologic and somatic statuses and physiopathology, and organized a local laboratory of bioanthropology; he tutored students between 1983 and 1986 as well.

Dr. Inchingolo worked at the Museum of Ethnomedicine (A.Scarpa`s collections) at the University of Genoa from 1984 to 1986. He contributed - in coll. with Dr. Antonio Scarpa and Dr. Antonio Guerci - to the classification of ethnographic material concerning empirical therapies used in traditional cultures on the world.

The main theoretical interests of Dr. Inchingolo concern the emergence of cultural, behavioral and psychophysiological transitions generating irregular (i.e. stochastic or chaotic) dynamics as, for example, the emergence and the meta-stability of cooperative strategies among individuals, communities and ecological sub-systems.

Dr. Inchingolo is the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers and abstracts.

He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS, Washington, DC), the New York Academy of Science (NYAS, New York, N.Y.), the Italian Society of Medicine and Geriatrics (SIMOG, Florence) and the Italian Society of Anthropology and Ethnology (Florence).

He was listed in: Who`s Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering (Marquis Who's Who, New Providence, NJ, USA), The Dictionary of International Biography (IBC, Cambridge, GB), The Contemporary Who's Who (ABI, Raleigh, NC, USA), Europe 500, Global 500 (BWW, Irvine CA, USA).

His avocations include blues, jazz, rock music and game theory.
